BIO

Allison Green grew up in rural Vermont. Taught traditional fiber craft —including quilting, spinning, floor loom weaving, and macrame— from an early age, her lifelong engagement with fabric now lends itself to a multidisciplinary arts career. Green holds a BA with honors in art history from Skidmore College, where she concentrated in dress history and received student grant funding for her independent study on eighteenth century undergarments. She came to New York in 2016 where she first built costumes at Sleep No More, and at Parsons Meares Ltd.. Notable Broadway productions include Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton, and the Tony Award winning revival of My Fair Lady.

Green continues working as an artist for stage and screen, while maintaining a studio practice. Recent projects include costume and props for Sesame Street from its Emmy Award winning 53rd season to present, prop and scenic for the Macy's Herald Square Holiday Windows (2022), and scenic and puppetry on Marcel Dzama's premier of "To Live on the Moon (For Lorca)" at the Performa Biennial (2023).

Green attended The Vermont Studio Center sculpture residency in 2023 and the School of Visual Arts Summer Residency Program in 2024. She won The Art Students League of New York’s Nessa Cohen Sculpture Grant for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024. Her work has been in group exhibitions including at EDEN Studio (Chelsea NYC), Culture Lab (Long Island City, NYC) Collar Works (Troy NY), and Women Made Gallery (Chicago IL). Her writing has been published in the Brooklyn Rail, Tussle Magazine, and the forthcoming essay collection “150 Stories” by The Art Students League of New York.
